Shaoran's reminiscence continues. Sakura's parents appear.



Same Side, Same Story

They knew that
the time when they could meet again
was not that far away.

"Who~?"
"I'm Sha-..."
"Wait..."

Sakura falls over. Shaoran rushes over to try to help her up.

"No!"

Sakura stops him.

"I'm sorry. But you must not touch me."

They sit down.

"I'm in the middle of cleansing in this water so no one can touch me."

She seems dissatisfied and splashes some water with her feet.

"Cleansing... Is there some important ceremony coming up?"

Sakura is surprised.

"... What?"
"Knowing that cleansing is something that comes before an important ceremony." (T/N: I'm guessing this is Shaoran.)
"It's because there's something I've also done many times." (T/N: Definitely Shaoran here.)

Sakura smiles.

"That's right." "Those clothes aren't from Clow country. Did you come from another country somewhere?"
"... From another world."
"Another world..."
"Yeah. I came from the country called Japan in a different world than this one."
"Japan..."
"You're not surprised."
"It's because I heard" "the priest say to mother that the world isn't only one to those who know its existence." (T/N: I'm tempted to be literal and use "before" with the meaning "in front of" instead of "to", but this poor line has been abused enough that I decided to stick with simpler wording.)
"... I was also told that by my mother."
"But it's strange. Even though Japan and Clow country are in different worlds, we can speak like this. Such a coincidence..."
"No. In this world there are no coincidences. All there is, is hitsuzen."
"Was that from your mother?"
"No, from my father."
"... Hitsuzen. I wonder if meeting you is such a thing too."

Seeing Sakura's smile, Shaoran is a bit shy.

"..."
"Tell me your name."
"... Li Shaoran."
"I'm Sakura of Clow country."
"The same name as my mother..." (T/N: This is Shaoran. Sakura uses a different suffix.)
"Eh?"

Shaoran stares at Sakura. Sweatdrop. ... Looks like my mother when she was small.

"Weren't you in midst of cleansing?"
"Mother!"
This person also looks just like my mother's mother that I saw in a picture.
"Looks like you're enjoying yourself, Sakura-hime."
"I'm sorry! But I'm keeping my oath of purity! I really am! I just took a little fall in the water, but... but...!" (T/N: I couldn't find the word I translated as "purity" in the dictionary, so it could be a bit off.)
"I understand. It's all right."

She faces Shaoran.

"Welcome to Clow country, you who came from another world."
"How do you...?"
"A dream."
"Are you a dreamseer too?"

A sound comes from Sakura's stomach.

"Er, um, that was...!"
"It's evening. The cleansing ritual is over for today, so let's return to the castle. I've prepared some of your beloved apples, Sakura-hime."

Addressing Shaoran.

"Come with us."
"But..."
"Of course, I prepared your share too. You like fruits, right?"
So this person can see the future in dreams after all?

Shaoran accepts the invitation to eat together. Sakura goes "wa~i!" and runs happily, then steps on her hem and falls down. They arrive at the castle.

"It's really a castle." (T/N: Shaoran here.)
"Is it nothing like Japan?"
"There's a desert in Japan too, but it's not the place where I live at least." (T/N: I had to Google for this one. I wonder if this is what Shaoran is talking about?)
"Sakura-hime."
"Father!"

Sakura rushes over but stops confused.

"Be patient for six days more until the cleansing ritual is over." (T/N: The sentence is a bit weird, I could be off.)
"Yes, father."
"Could you introduce us, please?"
"I met him at the purification grounds in the ruins."

Shaoran bows.

"I am Li Shaoran." (T/N: YAY he's using polite!)
"I am the king of Clow-koku, Fujitaka. You two must be hungry, so we'll talk later.
"Let's go."

The parents turn to look at Shaoran and Sakura.

"... It's him, isn't it?"
"Yes. Sakura-hime's destined person."

Their destiny can even cross worlds and, now, it speeds up!

HELL YEAH Holic reference in the chapter title!!! Though considering how much CLAMP fucked up the Holic universe, I'm no longer sure Holic references should be celebrated.

The word used for "parents" implies both of them, but so far there's no information on Sakura's mother. (Someone asked.)

Okay, Shaoran's comments are priceless. (笑)

The lack of names identifying the lines doesn't help, but is it for serious that Nadeshiko is a yumemi? X_X

Okay. Lemme just pick up my jaw at the introduction of this Clow-ou.

Clow Reed, oh Clow Reed. What in the blazing flames of hell have you done to your family?

Oh yeah, forgot to comment on this one! I was right when I thought it weird that Sakura-replica knew how Watanuki's name is written. This is it, kids, we have confirmation that they really do speak Japanese in Clow-koku.
