Kohane-haha: If I wish, it should come true, right!?

Kohane-haha: Well, I'm wishing all right!
Every day,
every day!

Kohane-haha: And even so!!

Side text: Hurting her daughter, and thus also hurting herself, Kohane's mother sheds screams along with tears. What was she wishing, what was she desiring!?

Kohane-haha: Why,
why...!

Kohane-haha: Aaaaaaaah!

Kohane-haha: Ah!

Yuuko: Have some.

Doumeki: Thank you very much.
Yuuko: And what about the mother?

Doumeki: It seems that since she was clearly in no condition to walk,
the TV station staff took her to a hospital.

Yuuko: ... I see.
And thus Watanuki brought Kohane-chan here, right?

Doumeki: So that kid
Doumeki: ... was able to enter the shop, huh?

Watanuki: ......... Kohane-chan.

Kohane: ... A long time ago,
Kohane: mother said...
That was back when father was with us, and I didn't appear in TV and the like.

Kohane-haha: I've always thought about naming you Kohane, you know.
Kohane-haha: When I married your father, it was snowing, as though feathers were falling from the sky. (T/N: For those of you who don't remember, "Kohane" means "little feather".)

Kohane-haha: So, I always wished
that on a snowy day like that one, a cute girl would be born.

Kohane: Did it really snow?

Kohane-haha: Of course!

Kohane: ......

Kohane-haha: Let's live happily forever and ever, the three of us!

Kohane-haha: It'll be okay.
Kohane-haha: If I strongly wish for it, it'll come true for sure.

Kohane: But, not much later,
Kohane: I became able to see things that can't be seen.

Kohane: The first thing I saw
was an unknown woman standing by father's side.

Kohane: I only told mother about it, since I had seen.
Kohane: At first she laughed and asked,

Kohane: "What kind of person?"
Because I was asked, I told her.

Kohane: And then...

Kohane: That was a person from father's company,
Kohane: a person just like I said.

Kohane: That day, mother was fighting with father until late in the night.

Kohane: After that, they kept fighting all the time.
Mother started working with all her might for me to appear in TV, and father started not coming home.

Kohane: Mother said that if you wish, it will come true.
But,
the three of us couldn't live happily forever.

Kohane: I also wished for mother to be happy, but
that didn't go well either.

Kohane: Since that day when I first saw...
there's always been something black around mother, following her.
Kohane: It only gets bigger and bigger.

Side-text: Always lonely, always sad. In the arms of Watanuki, who couldn't but embrace her, she has bright feelings towards her mother!! (T/N: I'm not sure about "bright" there.)

Kohane: ... Mother!

Page 5: Just a normal hospital? I'd gladly take her to the psychiatric ward. ¬¬

Page 7: Time for a stupid observation: I guess Kohane's birthday wasn't May 7th after all? (Or am I misinterpreting and Kohane wasn't born in winter despite the psycho-bitch's wish? Or was it snowing in Japan in early May?)

Pages 9 and 10: Arrrgh! What the heck happened back then? Is 立つ an euphemism for something else, are Kohane's visions only symbolic (I didn't think so, judging from the latest spirit-viewing incident), or what?

You know what I first thought? That Kohane's vision of her father with the other woman was something that would happen inthe future. Of course she could not know it, so she told her mother. Her parents started their arguments, with the mother accusing the father of cheating on her; perhaps it was at that time that Kohane's vision came true...

Heck, if it's really like this that it went, I think I can understand why Kohane feels she's the one to blame for everything that happened. Poor kid. *hugs her along with Watanuki*

That makes sense, though I don't recall any instance where Kohane actually saw the future. It's possible that she just saw something really ordinary and her mother jumped to conclusions, though I'd expect someone who believes so much in "wishing" would react with denial instead of doing what she did. I mean, she'd need to have really low confidence to overreact if Kohane did indeed see something ordinary, and I don't see that going well with the whole "if you wish, it'll come true" thing about her.

True, Kohane was never shown having the power of seeing the future, but she's at least able to see the past: just look at the latest chapters, when she whispers to that woman that she was the killer of her husband. Why wouldn't she be able to also see the future?

Also, about her seeing something ordinary - even if that's the case, she says here that when she described the woman to her mother, she clearly recognised her as being one of her husbands' colleagues. Having just discovered her daughter's powers, she (at least in my opinion) quickly panicked, got frightened and jumped to conclusions, instead of calmly reflecting on the matter.

And of course, her 'if you wish, it will come true' mantra goes either way, both positive and negative. First we have a good wish (Kohane's birth), then a bad one. Although Yuuko would add at this point that no one can never judge if wishes are always completely good or bad.

Hmmm, I'm not sure if the wall episode could be evidence that Kohane sees the past. She could simply have contacted the spirit of the deceased. I think it also depends on where exactly Kohane gets her information from when doing this kind of thing. To someone getting information from, say, the dream world, there's probably no real difference between seeing the future and the past. To someone getting information from objects, people's minds or spirits, it's not so straight-forward.

Of course it's possible for the mother to have panicked, but what I meant is that a confident person doesn't just panic from something ordinary (at least not over here -- I'm no expert in Japanese culture), and I think that in order to have so much faith in "wishing" (perhaps too much, we went over something similar with the Monkey's Paw), one needs confidence. That's why I'm thinking maybe Kohane played down what she told Watanuki, or I missed an euphemism. Though it's possible that the mother somehow was able to live by "wishing" all that time and neither had her belief broken nor built the confidence that would've come with seeing her wishes come true.
