Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, chapitre 184
Scans at [info]ladydarkmoon.

Edit: Fixed the splash quote.

Chapitre 184
Time lapse

-01- (splash: Shaoran)

The place he left
to never return.
That was the convergence point
that he ought to return to.

-02-

Label: Clow country

Kurogane: Is it beyond this gate?
Shaoran: That's the residential district, and the castle ahead.

Mokona: But what could that "time lapse" mean?

Fai: I don't know.
Fai: Is it something like time's being stopped?
Or...

-03-

Kurogane: Whatever it is,
it's over there that we're heading.

Shaoran: Let's go.

-04-

Shaoran: This is...

Apple-kun: Ah!

-05-

Apple-kun: Thank you, mister!

Apple-kun: You a traveler?
Shaoran: ... Yeah.

Apple-kun: Thanks a bunch!
Clow country is a nice place!

Mokona: Everyone looks fun.

Kurogane: ... What's going on?
Fai: Don't the townspeople feel anything particularly odd?

-06-

Mokona: Where could Sakura be?

Apple-kun: Mister!

Apple-kun: Thanks for earlier.
I finished up without dropping the shop's goods!

Apple-oba-san: Thank you very much!
This child is an airhead.

-07-

Kurogane: There's no hostility from either,
but that can be concealed through willpower. (T/N: Huge adaptation, and interpretation based on a Japanese blog post that's no longer available.)
Fai: ... Yeah.

Oji-san: Those looks of yours,
are you from another country?
Fai: Yes.
Fai: We just now arrived
at Clow country.

-08-

Oji-san: The clothes you three are wearing are extremely different from each other.
Oji-san: Are you each from a different country?

Fai: We were born in different countries,
but now we're traveling together.

Nii-san: How nice!
Oji-san: Traveling alone is okay too, but of course with someone it's great.

Fai: ... That's right.

-09-

Nii-san: You should take it easy.
And the festival is just around the corner, too.

Shaoran: Festival?

Nii-san: Yup.
In the ruins there.

-10-

Apple-kun: Have you decided on an inn already?
Fai: Not yet.

Apple-kun: Then come to our place!
Apple-oba-san: That's right. By all means, come!
Shaoran: No,
but...

Nii-san: You should do that.
When you're in the middle of a journey, you need money, too.

Apple-kun: Besides, the nights in this country are terribly cold.
Sleeping outside is pretty much impossible.

Shaoran: Sure, I think we'd better ensure we have a place we can sleep in.

-11-

Shaoran: Besides, now that we don't know where Sakura-hime is,
I want information too.

Shaoran: ... The sun is already setting.

-12-

Mokona: What a treat!
That was great!

Fai: Your mother is a good cook, isn't she?
Apple-kun: Yup!
Mom's pah'yu too, it's delicious!

Mokona: What's pah'yu?
Apple-kun: It's got the apples we sell at the market in it.

-13-

Apple-oba-san: Please have some for tomorrow's breakfast.

Apple-oba-san: Well, you must be tired.
Please feel free to rest up.
Shaoran: Thanks.

Fai: I tried to ask around mealtime,
but it seems there's nothing particularly weird recently.
Kurogane: You mean that bastard is working to go unnoticed?

Shaoran: ... I want to go to the ruins tomorrow.
That's the beginning of everything.

-15-

Mokona: Huh?
Mokona: There's no one home.

Fai: They have a job, so maybe they were up early.

Mokona: What's up?

Kurogane: The food...

-16-

Mokona: Isn't here, is it?
The pah'yu.

Mokona: You wanted to eat?
Kurogane: That's not it.

Kurogane: It's just that, by the looks of that mother and child last night,
Kurogane: I think it's strange for them not to have prepared breakfast.

Fai: ... No doubt.

Mokona: Could something have happened?

-18-

Apple-kun: Ah!

-19-

Apple-kun: Thank you, mister!

Apple-kun: You a traveler?
Shaoran: ... Yeah.

Apple-kun: Thanks a bunch!
Clow country is a nice place!

Teaser: A déjà-vu, or is it? What is the secret of the "time lapse"...?

Shaoran: Eh!?

Since no one opposed to "time lapse", I'm keeping it.

Page 1: Looks to me like more evidence of Shaoran's origins, but maybe it's just referring to his Clow-koku half.

Page 3: Kurogane, kindly explain your reasoning for going into the city first instead of visiting the site of the incident.

Page 4: Hisashiburi da na, Miyuki-chan!

Page 5: New strategy for increasing tourism revenue? Have a local kid bump into newcomers and randomly say that they're in a great place?

Page 7: Kurogane's ability to have unintelligible lines even though he isn't a pretentious-sounding monocle-wearing Lord Chin must be due to his ninja training, I swear. X_X On a side note, while searching for other instances of 消そう思えば (since no one seems to agree with me on that line and I'm not seeing how to get the same meaning, so if I'm wrong then it must be an idiom), I found another blog post in which this line made the author wonder if the city isn't being inhabited by the stolen souls.

Page 9: They even have a festival? Hahaha, it's really Groundhog ("Sandhog"?) Day in Clow-koku!

Page 12: I think I finally figured out what could possibly be worse than Watanuki's kitchen talk... Clow-koku kitchen talk with food names that can be made up! X_X (Remember the "rak milk"?) I'm totally hopeless at interpreting food drawings, but maybe パーユ is just a fancy way of saying "pie" (パイ)?

Page 18: What the heck is that? When did they get to the city gates?

Thanks for the translation ^__^
Kurogane, kindly explain your reasoning for going into the city first instead of visiting the site of the incident.
Well, Syaoran said that "beyond" the residential area is the palace.. I guess they want to go to the palace and see if they can meet with the King and get some info. [possibly] However, if they go to the "ruin" immediately, they would not have figured out the "deja-vu" time loop thingy ^.~

Though I really wonder if there's any "specific significant" for the festival and I thought the Ruin is in expedition but why in the world would they have a festival in there?? I am beginning to wonder if FWR has "time loop" the day of "that" Clow country even before the expedition crew [arrival of Fujitaka].

For no reason at all, I totally ship those two random villagers on pages 8 and 10. The guy on the left is further proof that in order to have facial hair in a CLAMP manga, you have to be an extra (or a bad guy).

Is anyone else wondering where the heck they get those apples in the middle of the dessert? Makes no sense. They should be eating cacti or... stones or something instead.

Groundhog Day is a movie from the late 80's I think, where a team of reporters is sent to a little town to do coverage of a local annual event, the Groundhog Day. I don't remember the specifics about the event, but it involved a groundhog and some fortune-telling based on the groundhog. Anyway, the protagonist, one of the reporters, is unable to move past that day. No one around him notices anything, and he just keeps living the same day over and over again. He even dies in a car crash (if I remember correctly, they can't leave town because of a snowstorm) in one occasion, only to wake up at the hotel, in the morning of the same day. Eventually he learns to take advantage of the situation, gets the girl and fulfills the condition to break out of the loop.

Sorry Neither for randomly replying to this like two months after the fact, but my love of the movie forced me to. xD

Groundhog Day is this bizarre American holiday that takes place on Feb. 2 each year. Like in the movie, they take a groundhog in a small town in Pennsylvania and if it sees its shadow then there are 6 more weeks of winter, and if it doesn't then it'll be an early spring. The movie's actually from the early 90s ('94, I want to say). And poor Phil dies many, many times in that movie. xD Electrocuted, fell off a building, hit by a car, etc. etc.

Oh how I love that movie. =]

It took me a few moments reading you call the TRC gang groundhogs until I finally got the connection and laughed. =D

Great chapter though. I love it! Page 14 is my favourite page~ It's so sad. ;_____; And I almost forgot how adorable Sakura was when she was little!

Thank you very much for the translation! :D

I was a bit confused yesterday since the 2ch regulars were also expecting Holic spoilers. I figured they'd know if the schedule had been changed, but the lack of spoilers surprised them too.

Man, I'm so glad that the Holic bare-san still cares about the plot. The Tsubasa ones are so damn sloppy. When did we last get -decent- Tsubasa spoilers?

Yes, for a second there I thought, too, that CLAMP had postponed the new chapter at the last moment. They've already done that.

Tsubasa long, decent spoilers? What are those? Ha ha I don't even remember them ^^
