Seishirou: but it looks like I can't meet the catch I really, strongly wish to meet. (T/N: Furigana mismatch on "catch" -- the kanji reads "vampire". Also, I should have translated the word as "one(s)", but I wanted to avoid having to pick between singular/plural.)

Shaoran: Wait up!

Seishirou: ... You're also Shaoran, right?

Shaoran: What about the feather?

Seishirou: I have it.
Seishirou: Right here.

Seishirou: It was in Outo country, no, Edonis country actually, right?

God, I love them. Now I'm sorta pitying Kurogane for what he probably had to go through living with them. xD

For once I'm thankful for Syaoran being a hothead and making Seishirou stick around, poor Sei-chan would have preferred a diplomatic approach though.

What he said about Fujitaka is messing with my brain. Him saying that this Syaoran is like Fujitaka in how he was looking through another person makes me go "D:". Something was up with Fujitaka.

Oh, Seishirou! I knew you had to be an evil bastard somehow! I don't think I've ever been so happy to suspect someone of killing another character's mother!

Tomoyo comparing Kendappa to Fuuma's troublesome sibling is love! Kendappa's reaction is better!

Is Kurogane's line 'That attitude, asking stuff to people.' in reference to Seishirou asking Fay about the twins? It's not very clear in the text or the images (and I know it's not your translation). I assume it is, cause it's the only context that matches. In which case, that is really quite sweet! No wonder he was blushing!

Fuuma is so great! I love him! I know people say he's like a cross between Dork!Fuuma and Dark!Fuuma but I've always seen them as one and the same (just that Dark!Fuuma has less inhibitions than Dork!Fuuma). So he's Fuuma to me without any need to destroy the world. Which is a bit of a bad trait in a character!

It's so wonderful to see Fay teasing Kurogane again. It feels like we're finally back to normal. A few more chapters and we'll have Kurogane chasing him with his sword.

that line wasn't dirty until I realised that Kurogane doesn't have a sword anymore

I can't see Syaoran defeating Seishirou, though. Especially not now that we have semi-confirmation of Seishirou's evilbastardness. I wonder how long Kurogane can stay out of the fight with what he suspects, though.

I'm pretty sure Seishirou will escape. It gives Mokona-tachi double reason to go after Seishirou (the feather and Kurogane's suspicions). After they fix Sakura, though. They need to fix Sakura. I want Subaru and Seishirou reunited more than most fangirls but they need to fix Sakura.

I'm leaning more towards Syaoran being Fei Wong Reed's child than Clow's. Not sure why. Maybe just for the 'FWR is more of a bastard than we thought' idea. And that 'looking through' line could mean that FWR was watching them all that time through Fujitaka...

Seishirou's bastardness will probably turn out to have a good effect. He is one of Yuuko's allies in the bigger scheme, after all. Though the fact that he won't fuck up the TRC gang makes me worry that he will, once again, fuck up himself.

I think Kurogane's response to Kendappa was meant to shoot down her question right then and there. As in, "In what way are we similar?" and, "In how you keep asking stuff like this."

TRC Fuuma made me appreciate the original one much more. In a "this is what happens when you take away the frail little sister and the doomed twin star thing" way.

Well, Seishirou can't escape if Kamui's luck runs out, now can he? I want my Seishirou/Subaru-ness, dammit!

And that 'looking through' line could mean that FWR was watching them all that time through Fujitaka...
That's the creepiest thing said about this chapter so far.

Because I was right all along about other Shaoran being just a part of the real one, and the real one therefore inheriting everything other Shaoran had? ^_^ (Okay, that's not decided yet, but I think the editor who writes the teaser lines has more authority on the subject than any of us.)

Actually, that's the part I like most since I ship them (though I preferred the angst of the flashback of the ruined world and the bittersweet moments around the final match in Infinity). What's bothering me is his feather-hunting mentality and his facial expression in 169, which was no different from other Shaoran's.

Reedcest in both junior and senior forms is all kinds of awesome. XD

If I put together all the crack I've conjured about Clow's line in TRC, we get TRC ultra-condensed like this: "Sakura & Shaoran: 'We fell in love while helping our manipulating bastard of an uncle get together with our dead father.'"

But the bit about Syaoran's father breaks my brain. I really don't think it's Fujitaka Seishirou is talking about, otherwise the following Mokona-Fay exchange wouldn't have been there. So yeah, that leaves me with the weird Reedcest theory. And the "watching through me other you" makes me think that Clow-ou is Clow Reed's clone or something... Although I still think Clow Reed and Clow-ou are the same... >_> And good God, do Sakura and Syaoran even have mothers at all?

And then there's the even weirder theory that Syaoran is FWR's child. But that is SCARY. Like omgwtfbbq scary.

Another idea is that Fai is mistaken, and Fujitaka is real Shaoran's real father -- but other Shaoran didn't know that because Fujitaka thought it'd be better for his sanity if he never known about the first son. It'd explain the similar "coloring", and also how Fujitaka knew to name the kid he found "Shaoran" (this question has bothered me for a long time). If this so, poor Fujitaka, he must have been through one heck of a hard time raising a kid who looked an acted much like his missing son, and having to be quiet about it the whole time.

Sure feels like R!Syaoran is acting like the clone. But I've recently watched all the episodes of CCS and it feels like typical CCS!Syaoran bone-headed-ness.

DEFINITELY felt like typical CCS!Syaoran bone-headedness! That's the first thing I thought of as well. In the manga and anime of CCS, he was always very relentless in everything he did. He doesn't back down to anybody...except Sakura XD, and then of course he acts like an idiot. It's becoming easier to see the ways people are the same no matter the dimension, particularly in R!Syao's case. XD
Now all R!Syaoran needs to do is spazz out CCS!Syao-style (which of course has its similarities with Kimihiro's spaz-trips) and when Sakura wakes up, he needs to stammer like an idiot when she talks to him (and then run away!) and he definitely needs to blush more dammit! I'd love to see some non-serious/battle CCS!Syao-style anger (with veins on the forehead and everything), preferably directed at Tomoyo-hime when she inevitably gets him to fess-up about his feelings for Sakura... (ala CCS!Tomoyo) Tomoyo WAS the only person CCS!Syaoran ever told anything to, since he had such issues around Sakura (except for his one suave moment at the playground comforting her.) Then he was back to being a nerd like always.
Yikes, this chapter has really brought out my nerdy CCS!fangirl. Even Tomoyo-hime was sporting a similar expression to what CCS!Tomoyo had when fangirling over CCS!Sakura and occasionally over CCS!Syaoran. This chapter was much love. Everyone was great! XD

I wonder if the whole "Syaoran's father" thing relates in any way to CCS!Syaoran's father never even being mentioned in CCS? He only mentions his mother and 4 older sisters, and only in the first movie were they ever actually shown. There's a CCS drama cd track with Sakura asking Syaoran about his family and has him saying that everyone tells him he looks like his father when he was young but his father died when he was very little and that there aren't any pictures of him so he doesn't know if he looks like him or not (which makes Sakura go hoe!? O_o and ask why) and he says that there are "many reasons" (why there aren't any pics of him). He never says any of those reasons, of course. I assume Ohkawa wrote the drama tracks, but even then, I don't know if it can be considered "canon" even though parts of CCS anime-only have entered into Tsubasa - the whole Syaoran loving archaeology thing was anime-only...actually a lot of Syaoran's stuff is anime-only, since they made him even more "mysterious" in the manga...If it wasn't for the anime, CCS!Syao would've been just as much of a mystery as R!Syao...except that we know they both like their Sakuras... XD
CCS!Syao said a lot of weird things too, and unlike the anime, the manga has him telling Sakura (after she asks) that he came to Japan to retrieve the Clow Cards because he wanted to prevent the disastrous future from happening like Clow mentioned in the books he left behind. See, CCS!Syao was a nerd too! You know he had to have read every single book by Clow Reed that he could get his hands on.
It's eerie...CCS!Syao and R!Syao were both sent at a young age to prevent a bad future from happening, although R!Syao apparently made a promise to protect Sakura (?), when CCS!Syao was oblivious about Sakura's existence until they met (makes you wonder whether his mother already knew the outcome of the final judgment and sent Syaoran to Japan for a different reason XD. I love how everything is so similar, yet different. I can't wait to see R!Syao's story. It would be great if we could find out unanswered things about CCS too though.
Okay, this fangirling has exhausted me and since I work nights, I'm sleepy anyway.

Ok, time to ask some random questions about TRC that have been bothering me for a while:

1) what is the point of having Cloney collect feathers on his own? I thought FWR wanted Sakura's body to travel, and didn't care one way or another about the feathers themselves (though he could want them as a source of power, i mean, he was stealing souls in xxxholic for power, right?). But still, what is the point of having Cloney help with that, in that case?

2) what is the point of having Cloney look like Shaoran if all the important players (Clow, Yuuko, Fujitaka, maybe even Yukito and Touya) could easily tell he was not the real one? On second thought, maybe FWR wanted to be sure Sakura would fall for him **imagine FWR's plan failing simply because the evil minion he chose for Shaoran's part was just not Sakura's type, ha ha**

3) what's with FWR and curses? How come he can curse people to do what he wants? Maybe this is kinda like Yuuko's wish/price thing: he makes your wish come true, then he can curse you into doing whatever he wants. I just hope he can't just curse people at random (that would suck much more than his power to stab random people living in other worlds), because it would make the whole "carefully crafted plan" thing quite pointless.

4) another one about FWR: what is his plan exactly? It's so messy i can't even ask a coherent question about it. But we all know that more than just a few things have gone wrong for his plan:
- Kuro being Yuuko's pawn
- Sakura getting stabbed (and BTW when was Shao supposed to become more powerful than Fye in order to activate the curse?)
- Real!Shaoran getting to Yuuko with the help of that woman whose name I forget
- Fye and Kuro getting alive out of Celes

5) Last one: what was the deal with Fye's magic? Did it increase or decrease when he used it? If it decreased, what was the point of the tattoo, then? If Fye could deplete his magic power, it would have been easier for Ashura-ou to get Fye to kill him. Am I missing something here?

Yo, Ashura-sama. Thank you so much for this week's TRC translations. This was a pretty interesting chapter. LOL on the scene where Fuuma and Tomoyo-hime were talking about how trouble can their siblings be. Especially the look on Kendappa's face!! XDDD Of course, the brotherly conversation between Seishirou and Fuuma was very lovely. AWH!! *bliss*

I have to give a strong credit to Syaoran for not letting Seishirou go to the next world and challenge him with a fight. Good boy!!

However, the mystery of who is his father has got me brain-fried and there is little or no chance that Syaoran will win the fight. =___=

Anyway, thank you so much for such wonderful translations. I really enjoyed it and I shall look forward for next week. *bows*

Delurking to say thanks for the translation, and to chime in with some speculation--

I've been thinking that maybe Syaoran and Watanuki are brothers; that is, maybe Watanuki is the brother that Syaoran should have had, but for some reason they were separated. One reason I think this is because of how chapter 168 was structure: Syaoran woke up from meeting Watanuki in a dream as black Mokona woke up from a dream of white Mokona, and there are doubles/brothers running throughout the series.

Of course, if they're brothers of sorts, that doesn't answer the question of the hour: who are their parents? I've been considering all the possibilities that I've seen listed in your comments; also maybe some version of Eriol? One thing to remember is that we see Watanuki's parents briefly in a flashback in Holic (after Watanuki's fallen from the window, his parents tell him to stay and we see their blood stained arms). And we still have never gotten an explanation for Xing Huo's behavior; though I don't particularly like the idea that she's Syaoran's mother or something like that, I do wonder why she helped him escape.

There are several possibilities (assumption):

Clow father of R! Shao (possible (chap 166 page 13 fei: The only companion of the princess is the one that is the blood of Clow ...) (It is a translation jap/fr then fr/Eng.)
fei father of R! Shao
fujitaka father of R! Shao (no possible)
fei father of watanuki (the likeness no? *Is lynched*)
